Segerstam July

Daphne 1005

One of the orchestral fantasies from Months by Leif Segerstam played by SAMI sinfonietta in two different versions. The piece, divided into 10 sections, is performed without a conductor and includes improvisatory elements: the differences between the two versions can easily be compared by switching between tracks on the CD.

July is one of the conductor-less orchestral fantasies that just had to be written down in 1995. The orchestral "happening" has 10 starts. The sign for these moments comes from the pianist who plays a solo part with an obligato character.

Those who fancy they can hear colder tones in the piece, should not forget that July for Australians means mid-winter!
